Who is eligible to be a part of the Directory?

We welcome any Black designer across the graphics, branding and illustration industries. All designers must have an online website or digital portfolio of some kind to be included. We will not link out to any social media sites (Instagram, LinkedIn etc.)

How do I submit a portfolio?

Please visit our submission page for directions on how to submit your portfolio for review.

How long will it take for a portfolio to be reviewed?

We try to review all portfolios and respond with comments within five business days. If a portfolio feels like the right fit we will add the designers name and website to the Directory within 48 hours of approval.

Why is there a submission process?

We want to ensure a level of consistency across the portfolios we display. The submission process allows us to review the areas of focus for each designer and uphold a level of creative excellence with each book.

How many times can I submit a portfolio?

If we were unable to accept a portfolio submission, designers can re-submit as many times as they’d like. We know creatives are forever evolving and we welcome the opportunity to see that journey!

Can anyone submit a portfolio for review?

Yes! We want to know all the designers. If you found a book you love and think should be displayed please submit it through our form for review. That said, if you find your portfolio has been displayed and you would rather it not, shoot us a note and we’re happy to take it down (though we’ll be sad to see you go!).

Is there a cost associated with being in the Directory?

Absolutely not. Everything is completely free for designers. Our sole mission is to create an easy way to discover all of the amazing Black talent in the world.

Will you be adding other countries?

Yes! We will expand to any country that will have us. There must be a minimum of 10 designers to launch a new country, so send us those portfolios!

Will you be adding other industries?

We would love to add Black designers in the architecture, interiors and experiential spaces to our list of 2D experts. The same rule will apply to new industries, a minimum of 10 designers is needed, so keep on sending!

I’m updating my website, will it be taken down?

Unfortunately yes, we will remove any portfolios that have broken links or “under construction” notifications. But not to worry, if you’ve already been approved once, simply let us know when your website is back up and running and we will add you to the Directory immediately, no need to resubmit for review.
